Members of the Independent Insurance Agents of Austin come together annually to hit the course and raise money for various charities. Over the past 11 years, we have donated over $153,000 to six Austin charities. In 2017, we donated $10,000 for our annual golf tournament to the American Red Cross for Hurricane Harvey relief efforts.  Shown below are just a few of the ways The American Red Cross provided assistance through donations like ours to provide assistance during this natural disaster:

  • More than 414,800 overnight shelter stays provided with partners
  • More than 4.5 million meals and snacks served with partners
  • Immediate financial assistance for more than 573,000 severely affected households
  • The American Red Cross will spend $493 million on Hurricane Harvey immediate relief and long-term recovery, with 91 cents of every dollar received for Hurricane Harvey spent on service delivery
  • About one third of total Hurricane Harvey funds remain available for long-term recovery, including direct financial assistance to those underserved by other programs (like FEMA) and grant-making for other needed services.
